Bali Milkfish Fry or Chanos Chanos Exporter, Sumber Bahagia, was founded in 1995 and was first active in the trading of fish by-products, especially tuna. Chanos Chanos or Milkfish Fry began exported following the success of exporting freshwater turtle and crab, in 2000. Our Chanos Chanos or Milkfish Fry are bred in a hatchery in Gondol, Singaraja, Bali. The main fry bred here are grouper, such as brown-marbled grouper and humpback grouper, which can be bought at the sizes of 1.5 - 3 inches or 5 – 7 inches. These are shipped mainly to Singapore and Malaysia, along with 17 - 21 day-old Milkfish Fry. As for the Milkfish Fry or Chanos Chanos, Sumber Bahagia’s major importer is the Philippines, followed by Malaysia and Taiwan. Sumber Bahagia later became involved in the live tropical fish industry, many of which are shipped to Hong Kong, Japan, Thailand, the United States and Europe.
Milkfish Fry or Chanos Chanos then became our largest product export. Following this success, in 2007, the company broke into the fresh fish industry, the main importer of which is Australia. Many varieties of fresh fish are exported, including barramundi, tuna, golden snapper, red emperor, coral trout, swordfish and parrotfish, among others. In 2009, Sumber Bahagia began to develop cultured coral in conjunction with fishermen on Serangan Island, Bali. Many species of both soft and hard coral are cultivated until they are ready to be harvested.
